Central South University

Central South University ("CSU") was established in April 2000 from the amalgamation of three individual universities, specifically Central South University of Technology (founded in 1952), Hunan Medical University (founded in 1914) and Changsha Railway University (founded in 1953). CSU is one of 76 national universities under the direct administration of the Ministry of Education in China. CSU’s focus areas include engineering, science, medicine and material science. In addition, CSU’s faculty includes three members of the Chinese Academy of Sciences and 12 members of the Chinese Academy of Engineering.

Korea Institute of Science and Technology

Korea Institute of Science and Technology (“KIST”), founded in 1966, is a leading research institute in Korea. KIST’s scientific research facilities include 11 laboratories and its key research focus areas include computational science, energy and environment, intelligent systems, life sciences, materials science, nano-science and neural science.

RIKEN

Organized in 1917 as a private research foundation, RIKEN was established as a public corporation under the Japanese government in 1958 and was reorganized in 2003 as an independent administrative institution under the Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology. RIKEN’s research focus areas include physics, chemistry, medical science, biology, engineering, and computational science, including both fundamental and applied research.
